Message to David Chibo (or anyone else familiar with the following topic).
Please check out the link on nineveh.com reading "Assyrians were the first swimmers". If you follow it back the 'The Times' webpage, you'll read that the writer makes reference to it being of assyrian/babylonian swimming sport of some sort. Now, correct me if I'm wrong (and this is where I need your help), but isn't that scene remarkably similar to a small section of relief depicting the Assryian campaign against the Elamites? In particular doesn't that particular scene show Elamite soldiers trying to make their escape by swimming away, but being cut down by Assyrian archers?
I am certainly no expert on the topic, but it just sort of jogged my memory a little. And that six thousand year old claim seems questionable as well, given the timing of the said campaign against the Elamites.
Please let me know.
