Dear Mr Wmwarda,
Thank you for your letter. What were you trying to say? Our staff has almost finished studying it and so I can only offer a preliminary guess at was contained therein. You seem to be saying that you are an Assyrian. It is our understanding that all Assyrians were wiped out long ago. However, as you seem pretty sure, we wont argue the point with you. You can be Assyrian.
Your letter also expressed some resentment at being called Arabs. Well, which is it, are you Assyrians or Arabs, for I have to tell you, we aren't the ones to settle these disputes. We merely refer to all people from Arab countries as Arabs. It has been the policy of this newspaper to call people from Italy, Italians, those from France, French, and so forth. If you could point to an "Assyria", we would be happy to call whoever comes from there Assyrian.
We here are pleased to learn you are Christian, so are we, well most of us. The few Moslems we have on staff here are called Americans, as they live in America and are citizens of this country. Therefore we are even more puzzled at why you should expect us not to call people Arabs who lived in, and are still Arab citizens, or immigrants from Arab countries.
In the meantime, keep writing.
Sincerely,
Ross Bennet
