what makes me sick is that this is how people really want it to be - kids living off the fat of their parents' savings, going to parties & spewing money all over the place, being comfortable all the time, changing the TV channels whenever they see something unpleasant like a person starving to death or dying otherwise in a news flick or documentary... it's sick - yet everyone here wants it - rich & poor - for their kids. where is the inquisitive side of people that likes to explore, get dirty (outside, not "dirty" as in orgy-porgy all the time), build things, & push themselves in every way they can imagine? why do so many people want this boring & pathetically lame, comfortable existence?
what strikes me the most about this city, where i live, is that there is a sort of segregation that still occurs. it's not racist - it's just blind & the division is according to class. rich/middle class people here live in their blasted gated communities with manicured lawns & houses all the same. while, a brick wall over, there're poor people getting gunned down & stabbed for whatever little money they do have on them & snorting, injecting, & smoking all sorts of things into themselves just so they can mentally escape the abject poverty they live in for one more precious moment... & their addictions are usually pushed on them at a young age to begin with. the rich people, of all races, just don't see it - they're too busy with their work, favorite TV shows, & affairs to notice that there are other people who don't have it so "great."
