I think there has been a misunderstanding; I do ackowledge the outstanding work the Nakosha team carry out, and in no point of time have i questioned that.
>>>Yes, you did misunderstand didn't you?

My main concern is this attitude the Assyrians (of Australia) have picked up of having to publicly deem Australia to be the enemy, and have a conspiracy against our people. Yes, the conditions in places like Villawood are bad but it's not just for Assyrians but ALL asylum seekers; all the same i still believe if this type of treatment was not in place we would have half of the world in our country seeking refuge
>>>you are given to gross overexageration and rhetoric

regardless of capacity - economically or otherwise; there are issues, problems and cultural trends that people bring with them that others like myself resent! But this is another issue all together.
>>>Australian Assyrians have appeared twice on television in the 50 or so years they've been here: the first time was on the Australin 60minutes where two church groups were put in a studio to debate whether ethnic groups should have the freedom to bring their cultural/religious disputes with them [there was a huge brawl in the streets of Sydney some time earlier over some despicably low church matter]... at one point Mar Meelis said "They are primitive people" to which some hairy dude of the junglest stood up from the audience and asked the reporter "Wat is da prrrrrrrrimitive??"........... the second time was a short spot on the national news..."Assyrians in outbreak of diarrhoea"...... another hairy dude, i think the same one from the 60 minutes stood up and said " I eat biryani den too awarr later go straight toilet, you know??"..... Ok Ms "Ry", jump on the next leaky boat back to Australia because you are embarrassing us ALL.
>>I'll personally set up a fund for yooz guys.

I grew up in Australia, and have seen the Assyrian community grow. Our street where once there were but 2 assyrian houses now consists of over 22 well to do families- All came here with just over the clothes on their back and yet, today all have at least 2 cars and a house... what does this have to do with asylum seekers?
>>> you keep posing rhetoric questions, i dunno, do tell!!

Well we all came as refuge
>>>you mean refuse dont you?

putting forward cases of hardships etc, the truth was the conditions weren't so bad (in Iran anyway, i'm not sure of Iraq's conditions),

>>>I knew you were a redneck Iranian Assyrian

yes times were tough for some in the beginning but today the good outway the bad. My family who seeked refuge in Germany sent letters filled with joy and praise for the country that was treating them so good- whilst their case was being heard. But then what?! Once out in the real "country" there was the sense of not quite belonging, letters arrived of the difficutly of owning your own home, employers seemed to be disrimantory, they wished they'd remained in the wards they'd been allocated as their case was being heard.
>>>I wish youd stayed there too!!

So, yes the conditions in Villawood are bad, and as always we quickly brought it to our peoples attention. But don't you think the country that supports our people, the country that doesn't differientiate or discriminate against our people, the country that once accepted into the coutry you become accepted by the country should be praised for all it's done for our people???
>>>huh??

Reducing standards draws onto higher tolernacy of failure.

>>>I still dont get it!!

Like one of the letters you recieved by an 18 year old male about conditions of Assyrians in Fairfield. We have grouped together , come close as a community, our youth dropping out of school at high rates- and as one family watches another we tend to accept it. The truth is it's embrassing.
>>> yooz obviously dropped out of english class maaaate

This attitute is justified by articles such as that of Villawood. Our young looking for an excuse to be "drop outs" take this articles to heart,

>>>Now i've really heard everything!! Ican see it now..."NAKOSHA RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUTH CRIME AND UNEMPLOYMENT", "DRUG DEATHS LINKED TO READING NAKOSHA", "MAR MELAS SPEAKS OUT--'NAKOSHA CAUSING LAX MORALS'"

as evidence of the discrimination they face and justification of rebelious acts such as the formation of pathetic groups like the TT's.
>>>TTs???

I grew up here , went to primasry school, High school , attended Tafe and University
>>> -and you still cant spell for shit!!haha Australian education IS apthetic, lah??

not one day did i face racism. I attended Assyrian school, completed it and went on to teach it, until family and other commitments stopped me from doing so. I was very involved in the community , the young face at every party and event.
>>>I suggest you just stick to parties and keep your nose out of schools and education

But more and more i began to understand our culture as "Austrlian Assyirans" and so more and more began to resent our existance.
>>>I wont even comment what i thonk about your existence

You should make people aware of issues around us, bad and good. But please keep in mind that you can't save a sinking ship with a handful of uneducated and unequiped sailors. Furthermore what good is it saving it, when there'll be no one to steer it!
>>>I wont be throwing YOU a life jacket when i put you on a leaky boat back to Urmia,

As you said you have over 2000 members, bad journalism brings on bad attitude. So be a more weary of the message you convey or how you convey it.
>>>Thanks for the good advice, I hope we have 1999 members now.

This letter was long, and i still have more to say :) - "khina modan sureten!" ... but I'll leave it for another time.
>>>NO more NO more

As for having salt with my words... LOL... I sure deserve it huh?

I'll take it back publicly if you like...although I'm not satisfied that all those writing condemning this country and volunteering help are the same 2000 who you've drawn together to collect funds from! :)
>>> :P
