Dear Assyrian Brothers and Sisters:
My name is Maggie Yonan and I am currently looking for space to
purchase an Assyrian elementary school in the Northridge/Chatsworth
area.
The school would be a private Assyrian elementary school offering
day-care facilities for infants and toddlers, a preschool for
Kindergarten children and elementary school for 1st. through 6th.
grade students.
I am soliciting your help and participation in this survey to see
approximately how many students and children we would have to
accommodate.
Our school would offer regular curriculum (English, Math, Science,
History & Geography), taught by certified school teachers. In
addition, our school would offer Assyrian language and culture
classes, (Assyrian literature, history, geography, music, art, drama,
dance and choir.)
The average tuition rate would be $250-$300 per month per child with a
discount for families with more than one child in attendance. The
average rate of tuition for private schools and day-care are between
$400-$600 per month. So our cost would be well below that cost. For
low income families we would try to work out a slide-scale tuition
rate.
Our school would offer small class-size atmosphere, a safe and
intimate environment for Assyrian children to flourish and receive
quality education above the level currently offered at public schools.
Our goal is to provide Assyrian children with an outstanding education
and comprehensive training in the arts.
Our mission is to:
1) Establish the first Assyrian School in the United States.
2) To prepare and give a head start to Assyrian children into Jr. High
and High School
3) To offer Assyrian children with a loving and nurturing environment
where they can grow-up knowing and loving one another.
4) To unify Assyrina children socially without regard to religious
affiliations.
5) To develop a strong Assyrian identity among Assyrian children where
they can learn about their history, culture, and their language.
6) To produce future Assyrian artists, writers, poets, musicians,
composers, dancers and singers.
We have the support of many Assyrian brothers and sisters and we look
forward to serving the needs of our Assyrian community. So if you
would please take one minute of your time and fill out the survey
cared enclosed and mail it back to us by the deadline indicated below.
This information will be valuable in helping us realize whether we
need a very small, medium or large size building.
We would also appreciate your financial support and contribution as
well ass your letters of support so we can show the various granting
agencies that there is a slot of support for establishing an Assyrian
school in our community.
We thank you for your help and encouragement as well as your
cooperation as we undertake this important step in establishing the
first Assyrian school in the U.S.

Sincerely,

Maggie Yonan
