You don't have to like me to hate my art...Lord knows I can take it. I like Raman...he has a good head on his shoulders and is no doubt skilled...but that image makes me want to puke.
Since when did the Assyrian Star become a gibbet? Is that the real message? Are we turned into an instrument of murder and torture? What if they'd have slit his throat...would a "knife" be the symbol of this religion?
The image is cloying...begs for our tears and is undignified. Is that supposed to be Christ? Did he wear pots and pans on his head? If the guy is Assyrians then what the hell are we doing being crucified on our OWN symbol?
The message I come away with is that Assyria was turned into a Killing Field for that damn religion. Ashur crucified because of Christianity. If we were saved by it why isn't the guy hiding behind behind the cross? Why is he strung up on it?
Artists have become simpering and afraid to criticize Art...as if it's gonna hurt the Trade...so everybody pats everybody else on the back cause they're afraid of getting seriously critiqued. Well I've been toughned up by my community and it has been a good thing. Kick me in the teeth OR praise me and I don't care...I don't make Art for your approval OR fret over your disapproval. Especially now that I'm gone broke...who needs praise anyway or fears condemnation when you MUST be doing it because you just have to...no choice about it.
Raman...that was a dismal image.
