"Why do youthink England was so interested in Assyrian art? Well, for one thing Assyrian art communicated and validated the greatest, the most powerful civilization on earth. Secondly, England knew that all other civilizations and empires were erected on the foundation of the Assyrian roots. England could not afford to remind the world of that image. Thirdly, if Assyria could rise to that level of power, it could do it again, (if its foundation is still in tact). So the best England could do was to steal and scatter the Assyrian identity to keep it from ever uniting."

Another argument could be that had England left the pieces in Iraq, they would have been destroyed by residents of those countries who didnt know better.. my parents testify to the fact that locals would use tablets to make houses, just as Arabs used Egyptian artefacts to construct their mud houses. Had England NOT taken these relics away, modern assyrians probably would never have known who they were... had the tablets not been translated in Europe Assyrians wouldnt have known that Ashur was buried under their feet.
They have given us a better chance now than
ever to properly unite.
I hate colonialists too, but its not ALL that bad..or is it?
