Here's the way I figure it. You get drunk periodically and disappear for days at a time. This brings immense relief to your classmates. You roll around on the street and hike your skirts up way too high. In a few days you sober up, pull yourself together, feel sorry as hell and repent. You people are built like that.
After repenting for the last bender you feel the world is full of evil, as you should know, and become determined to clean the place up. You latch onto me again and go to giving us all a headache with your "analysis" and your damning of me to hell...even though I had none of the benefit of your wild ride over the week end.
Then, sure enough, you get tired of being Goody Two Shoes, tip back a bottle or two and go roaring down the Avenue looking for the Devil in all the right places. While you're gone, so to speak, we don't hear from you. In time you get clean again, dust yourself off and become even more grimly determined to stamp out Evil...after which you come looking for me again.
Is that about right?
