Great film with Paul Newman and George C Scott. At the end Paul is about to be beaten even worse than he was at the beginning of the movie when some other thugs had broken his thumbs, as a lesson not to hustle people in pool...or life.
The gangster has his guys hold onto Paul and tells his men to beat the real snot out of him this time. The gangster you see has screwed Paul's fragile girl who promptly kills herself and Paul is pissed as hell.
So Paul says this time they better kill him, cause otherwise he'll come kill THEM.
See, they took everything of value from him, but left him alive. Mistake. Now Paul has nothing left to lose, and as any Palestinian AND Israeli can tell you, that's when people are most dangerous.
Same with me. They thought they'd scare me away for good if they wrecked my family, separated me from my children, cut my income in half, ruined my monuments and 25 years of work and shamed me in front of people...but they left me alive. Mistake. Now what would Jackie or Atour or Janey do if someone did all that to them? They'd take it, because they aren't Professional Assyrians.
As long as there is life in this boys bod, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by seeking justice. That was one reason the Mafia never touched each other's families...not only because they were all vulnerable on that score...but because all you'd have then is a mad as hell killer with every reason in the world to do any horrible thing he could to get even. Not good business sense...and it was all, always business.
It's business with me too. With them it was pure emotion.
Never EVER mess with an artist. The pen is indeed mightier than the sword, so is the paintbrush, so is the carving tool. If we only learned how to use the written word instead of issuing these ridiculous manifestos and third rate letters from our third grade class leeders. Can you imagine how we could make the Turks look if we resorted to the Arts and not these ridiculous letters to WURLD LEEDERS? The Turks can cry foul if we seek to have a seminar or influence a politician...but what can they do against a painting or sculpture? Instead of tying my hands the community could have used me, and Rabel and Walter to do with Art you can't do with anything else...for what is slander and what not in politics, is Art and Freedom of artistic expression etc.
There is nothing Jackie can do if I make sculptures of her in the nude in every single position you'll find in the Kama Sutra, The Joy Of Sex AND Hustler magazine. I can place the photos on my site, I can have a show of the more tasteful ones, no pun intended...I can even use her name and there isn't a damn thing she could do because it is ART baby...ART!
