So, the other day I decided that since I'm poor, I had to make my cousin (who was turning 23, I believe) a birthday gift that was clever and meaningful, but that didn't cost a lot of $$$... so I decided to make him a wallet-sized card with words and phrases in our language so that he can learn them. I figured I'd share this with you-all. Of course, the family immediately found several errors on this card, but that doesn't matter...he loved the gift.
The point is that one can buy a CD of one of our musicians and give it to someone as a gift as a way to make that person happy, and to support our artistes. In the same manner, making a small gift like this will encourage people to learn our language.
I normally don't send out Christmas cards but I have some cute hand-drawn cards that Children in N. Iraq made (got them from the AAS), and everybody that I sent them to went out of their way to tell me how much they liked the cards. Hallmark be damned! They have enough money as it is.
Here's a picture of the "cheat sheet"... don't know if it will appear at the top or the bottom of this message.
