With all due respect, Tony...by not bothering with gods or demons, you spare yourself so much misery. If I say it's a mystery, that ends it for me...no qualifications. I have not the capacity to understand what we are, where we came from or where we're going...and anyone who tries to fill in the blanks is lying to you...he or she may be a great liar or a poor one...but it's a lie. If there's any truth to it...you and I aren't equipped to understand it or handle it.

I read somewhere that the ancients were perfectly capable of sculpting accurate features...but sculpture to them was some sacred, not personal...it was to revere the gods and the gods would by definition have to look nothing like men and women. It's a profound way of saying we aren't SUPPOSED to understand god...that the closer we come to knowing him...the further we are.

Since you can be good without god...and terrible with him...he is something that is unnecessary except as a cover for the terrible part in us. Human goodness is a simple thing...not very hard to achieve...what could be simpler than the Ashurian Rule?

"Do Unto Others..."
