Since when does the mainstream media do anyone a favor? There's a catch to it all.
Anyway, I think this discussion is not going anywhere, so I'm stopping my argument. Think whatever you want - I don't want you to change. I was only seeing if you were capable of understanding what I was saying.
As far as I'm concerned (& I don't really care what anyone thinks about what I think), I want to work for equality for women. I can not speak for all women, but for some I can speak. I never would want to be a man - this is not envy - I love my [female] body, mind, & spirituality. I could never understand why ANY woman would *wish* she was born a man, though I have heard some women say so to me. Instead of wishing to have been born as a male, I'd rather wish to have been born in a time when women were equally important as men in society. & I very much hate that there are so many women in this society here in the States who conform to the idiotic & selfish caricatures of "woman" that are sold to us through the media. I don't hate those women who conform, but I truly hate those misogynists who have influenced these women to disrespect themselves & each other so much.
This does not mean that I dislike men, but that I am happy with myself as I am & with others as they are... so long as they are not misogynist. In fact, sometimes I get the impression that a lot of men are not as happy with themselves as they think they are or want to be...
I'd like to see a society of equals, or even perhaps a matriarchy (a true matriarchy, not a matriarchy that is patterned after the patriarchy & in which women treat men as badly as men have treated women)... a society where all women feel confident in themselves, do not feel they HAVE to "look good for someone" or themselves, receive equal pay at their jobs as their male colleagues, are just as able to attain the same job status as men, & value their intellects... a society in which women chereish good physical health, instead of the wasted muscle & pale complexion of anorexia... a society in which *even* the "traditional" roles of mother & housekeeper are valued as much as the role of the "breadwinner".
True feminism wanted more than a "sexual revolution".
