It's funny how they choose that moniker...you visualize a quiet setting where people are staring off into the distance "thinking"...and we presume they're thinking about the big issues...like, death...joy...justice...fullfilment etc.
And we imagine the "thoughts" that come to them are somehow tied to the welfare of all humanity...the benefits of peace...goodwill towards children.
In reality they are public relations offices, funded by corporations with something to sell...they sit around "thinking" about how to sell us soap or war, or economic "theory" that will make them richer and convince us that's the best way for our boats to rise...sell us a bill of goods in other words.
But it sounds so much more benign, neautral and hopeful to call them "Think" tanks.
