xxx Well, you know, the only time I think you're being a "show off" is when it *sounds like* you are bashing Assyrians... of old or of new. But, that's only because you *sound like* a racist. I realize that because someone sounds some way or another, it does NOT necessarily mean that he/she IS actually that way. Perhaps saying that someone sounds some way or another means that one is seeing the person who is speaking as merely a reincarnation of *another* person from one's past, & not as an individual with a distinctly different perspective.
xxx I see what you mean about understanding someone better by knowing his/her language... However, ultimately, culture does NOT completely define the individual. SO, how well you know someone is not going to be dependent on how well you know his/her culture, necessarily.
