This is a serious suggestion regarding the Shumirum Monument. First of all it took years to make at a cost of $200,000 so we aren't talking chopped liver. Secondly, it was found worthy of being added to the collection of Public Art in the city of Chicago...that means it's nothing to be ashamed of.
Having all that going for it, naturally John Nimrod tried to steal it first...and then Jackie Bejan gave it the old college try. Since they couldn't get it, it now sits in storage gathering dust...a very good metaphor for our Heritage as a whole outside in our Diapers.
Nimrod will write letters to any city in America we try to install it in and scare them away with threats of lawsuits as well. Since his sister gave $120,000 towards its completion, and he gave nothing, he of course thinks it belongs to him. We have it here in California and it isn't going anywhere we don't want it to.
As much as I would like to honor Helen's memory and my own promise to install it in Chicago...it's obvious the people there aren't interested...and not wanting to wait till Nimrod dies, may Ashur hasten the day...and concerned that we've screwed ourselves with the city anyway by behaving as we have...I'm wondering if we shouldn't take the monument out of this country.
Australia is out of the question because the AUA has a branch nuthouse there and John would get them to threatening to sue the government...and no one wants that kind of grief....therefore, that leaves Africa or Europe.
What do you think about contacting some Assyrian organizations NOT in their Diapers to see if they would be willing to sponsor the Shumirum Monument and approach the necessary powers to see about having the Shumirum installed in Paris or London, or some other capital city?
It's not as far fetched as it seems and they might appreciate the gesture more than our grand illiterates here who are too busy begging their pride to actually do anything themselves.
I'm serious now so listen up. The statue is free, of course...but we need funds to crate and ship it...not a big deal. And we need a pedestal cast in concrete over there...also not a very big deal and you might get the city itself to fund that part...as Chicago offered to do...TWICE.
I've heard that you know a lot of Assyrians and what nots all over Europe. You can respond in private or here...we have no secrets here...everything is open and pubic.
