There was an interesting story today that I just heard on NPR. Apparently a law was passed some months back which allows US citizens hurt by "terrorists" to sue "terrorist countries". If they win their cases, they will be able to dip in to frozen foreign assets. Looks like Mr. Dadesho is going to get that money he won against Iraq after all, right?
There are a few problems, but the most important, and most ironic is that point which was brought up last in the story. If US citizens start suing Iraq for damages inflicted during the Gulf War, etc. then who is to say that other citizens in the world can't sue the US for being a terrorist state. After all, the NPR newsperson said, "The CIA funded the Taliban not so many years ago", and that is just one example of many, many, many more.
Sue away!
Maybe they can hire the Attorneys of Leuthold, Chang-Ching, & Aradutian, P.C. ??
