xxx In other words, I don't want to *pity* people. I want to be equal with them, & I want to care for them as equals, not as underlings who need me for my help. It seems that by pitying & treating other people as underlings desperate for help, one is actually stripping those people of their pride & their ability to recognize their own self-sufficiencies.
