: Highly Recommended: CASI (Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq) + CASI news
When speaking with Glen Rangwalla recently, I discovered that he had little knowledge of the Mideast, in spite of his "Iraq Expert" title. He either lied or was misinformed when he said that Iraq had never sponsored terrorism - he claims that paying Palestinian homicide bombers to murder civilians, women, and children wasn't terrorism. He was unsure about the number of true democracies in the Mideast. He claims that, without the U.S. threat of war hanging over Iraq the last 12 years, Iraq would live in peaceful coexistence with it's neighbors - he must have forgotten the invasion of Iran, Kuwait, and Saudia Arabia (yes, they did move into a town in Saudia Arabia at one time). He must have forgotten that they used chemical weapons against Iran and against the Iraqi people. He must have forgotten the $2 BILLION in food for oil that Saddam shunned so that he could blame his starving population on someone else.
Glen also claimed that he knew there were know chemical or biological weapons in Iraq - that Iraq had declared and destroyed everything. How could he be so sure - Iraq themselves claimed IN THEIR OWN DECLARATION that they did have these weapons, and that, out of the goodness of their hearts AFTER THE INSPECTORS WERE KICKED OUT several years ago, they decided that they would destroy them. Highly unbelieveable. And yet, Mr Rangwalla, a man who holds a distinguished post at Cambridge, believes it ON FAITH, because the Iraqi government has proved to us time and again that they are an honorable bunch.
