Itīs our own apathy...the fundamentalists are driven by demons, demons they hope to assuage by chanting and fasting and blabbering...these demons wake them up in the middle of the night...get them dressed...turn them out by the thousands for political rallies with other demon-driven people...and they get things done.
The rest of us want to sleep longer...read a good book...have no demons driving us except the one that says, "be reasonable, be fair, recognize the rights of others"...and lulled back to sleep by our cozy world view...we wake to find the demons have taken over.
We should have protested when Bush was handed the presidency...after that it was all downhill.
