Dear readers:
While it is understandable that we are absorbed and engaged by the war, we should not forget that this is an Assyrian forum, and we must discuss issues relating to Assyrians.
There has been so much non-Assyrian discussion on this forum that we have failed to address the important war issues that relate to Assyrians, for example, the accidental bombing of an Assyrian house in north Iraq.
There are many Iraqi forums on the web. If you need to discuss Iraq, go to these forums. As a matter of fact, go to these forums to INSURE that the Assyrian voice is heard. In this forum you are preaching to the choir most of the time, so don't waste your energy.
The overwhelming majority of Assyrians support this war. There are a handful who don't and they are a very vocal bunch. Let's pause. The war is now 14 days old. Let us move on. It is a fact now, and peace rallies or anti-war polemics are not going to stop it. Let us discuss what we can do for our people post-war -- that is a much more important discussion. We cannot leave this to chance. Are we prepared to help our Assyrians once the smoke of war clears?
As moderator, I am putting all parties on notice. Let us move the discussion to more constructive issues.
Here are some suggestions:
1. disaster relief for Assyrians
2. monetary aid
3. civil and human rights monitoring
4. insuring fair and equal representation in the new government
5. insuring constitutional recognition for the Assyrian nation
