It's the ancient Assyrian New Year Akitu Festival celebrated by our ancient ancestors to celebrate the ressurection of the god Tammuz and the godess Ishtar from the "under world."
When Christianity first began in the ME it was far simpler to change the names of the characters from Tammuz to Jesus and the paternal cross of the god Shamash to the symbol of Jessu dying on the cross.
That's where the name Easter has come from.
