My co-worker knows this guy who goes to Michigan State Univeristy and who plays in a band. When he is on stage, he wears a "tie-dyed" (spelling?) shirt, but it doesn't have any sort of "peace message" on it...just tie dye.
Anyway, so the band member was walking home from a gig with another band member and a group of men were walking behind him. They asked him "Hey, are you some kind of hippie? Why are you wearing that tie-dye shirt? Are you against the war!?"
The person who was wearing the shirt turned around (in a non threatening way) to respond to the men behind him, and as soon as he turned around, the brave men behind him (in keeping with the new American doctrine of pre-emptive strikes) sucker punched him, and then the group of them proceeded to beat the living shit out of both of them, just because one of them was wearing a tie-dye shirt.
He was, of course, by extension, a hippie who was against the war, and most likely a traitor, a communist, and un-american. He got what he deserved. Right?
