I learned a lot from this article. Already knew, generally, about the I.M.F. & World Bank, esp. regarding Jamaica & southern Africa, but this article *really* opened my eyes, because it exposes the whole mess so well - explicitly detailing a couple of the U.S. ambassadors' & military commanders' functions in other (Latin American) countries, how other nations (in East Asia) beat the global wealthy at their own game (which is facilitated by the World Bank & I.M.F.) by NOT heeding the demands or threats of those wealthy, how much pressure is put on the nations aided by the World Bank & I.M.F. to conform to the desires of the global wealthy (most of whom are from the U.S.).... & I could go on & on....
So much of this stuff about markets wouldn't matter if people went back to a bartering system & traded real good for real good.... & I wonder what would happen if the U.S. government was made to pay its national debt?
