: As for my interesting life...you have NO idea, but the struggles that come with life are the same for everyone, outcasts, traitors and all. Having a sense of adventure means you make alot of mistaks, but they are not valuable unless you learn from them. I plan to write my autobiography some day soon so maybe one day you will get to read it...

: As for Evanessence, I wouldn't class them as a work of art, but I am deeply soothed by the lead singer's grasp on human pain and spiritual yearning. Dark themes in music are enlightening ironically enough, and those who have seen darkness and who value and appreciate its intrinsic beauty are those who (in my opinion) can learn to value beauty in light-ness. This is not a new theory, actually it goes as far as Buddha and the Baghavad Gita and beyond. Khalil Gibran was brilliant in conceptualising these abstract philosophies in his work, both written and painted. You should visit his home in Lebanon it is a beautiful mueseum now.

xxx Yeah, the album's not an ingenious work of art, but they sound similar to some other artists out there I like. My best friend likes the album, so I listen to it with her. She thinks the songs are about death. I think some of the melodies are catchy, but the album is a bit repetitive. By the way, I think it's Enya, not Dream Theater, that I think I hear in Evanescence's melodies.

: So you like Queensryche and Dream Theater? You sound like an old-school metal head to me! I personally am a recovering goth/ industrial genre freak but was once known to have my own heavy/ death metal radio show. Tool however would undoubtedly be my favourite mainstream band.

xxx I used to listen to Queensryche's "Empire" album when I worked on math homework in high school, & Dream Theater's song "Pull Me Under" was one of my favorites senior year of high school (& I like a few other songs on their "Images & Words" album). When I was in high school, I listened to a good bit of Pink Floyd, Rush, Led Zeppelin, some Metallica, classic rock, U2, etc. But I like all sorts of music - depends on my mood. Actually, lately I've been listening more to classical & new age (like Echoes & Hearts of Space) music & a friend of mine is getting me into Pat Methany. BUT, I like almost everything - as long as it's in good taste (which, of course, depends on my opinion). I don't like music with lyrics that degrade women.

: My point is, don't let the lyrics bring you down, but uplift your spirit. It is difficult not to get caught up in the comfort of sadness and self-desruction, but these thoughts are usually perpetuated by the likes of Brittany Speares in my opinion.

: As for you wanting to learn Syriac, what is stopping you? Usually it is us humans who create the obstacles to progress ourselves. A great prophet (on him be peace) once said:

xxx You're right. I'm in grad school right now, so I don't have much free time, but I suppose I could try to squeeze in more "language" time.
