: HANOI - Just as it took a few years for the Americans to lose the hearts and minds of the South Vietnamese, it took them only a few weeks to lose the hearts and minds of the majority of Iraqis
+++No one was trying to win anybody's hearts or minds...they were trying to kill their livers and guts and hearts...no one wants to win the organs of Iraqis either...never did...why in the name of all Petroleum Gods would anyone WANT TO! Can we stop playing the part of wide-eyed bumpkins...call it what it was and let's face it.
- which ultimately means losing the war, whatever the strategic final result.
+++Sigh...no one wanted to win the Vietnamese War...it was "won" in the waging of it...in the orders and back orders on factory floors for weapons and shoes and boots and brass polish...war is business...who the hell wants to W(IN one? What do you do with the people you WON? Who can afford occupation...besides the Israelis and only because they aren't paying for any of it.
+++The rest is persiflage.
