Dear Ashur,

Our ancestors are from the tribe of Tkhuma(border). In battle the Tkhumnaya became reknown for being resolute. During attacks by the enemy Tkhumnaye would deliberately tie themsleves to a tree or rock in order to remove any thought of flight. This would force them to stand and win or die during the battle.

Although this was an important tactic that helped the Tkhumnaye physically survive during times of crisis, it also shows how inflexible and unflexible we Tkhumnaye can be when it comes to new ideas.

I believe that the the descendants of the ancient Assyrians are today's Iraqi people, including the Assyrian-Muslims. I believe that we have moved from a tribal-based identity to a religiously-based identity amd are only now starting to move to a secular-based identity.

The recent dual name issue is an indicator of the curent state of our religiously-based identity. Once the barriers between our churches break down I hope that the barriers between our religions will follow suit and all Assyrians of all religions will finally understand our true identity.

This is one of the main issues we discuss on this forum.

Once (our ancestors) were warriors. Today I ask you to stand here on this forum and debate these points with all the members including Fred.

And.............if you can handle Fred Parhad you can handle anything.

I look forward to reading your posts.

B'Sheyna,
Tiglath Beth-Chibo
