Literal baptism, the washing away of original sin is a crock to me. Symbolic baptism, to be born anew through the love and compassion of God, that's what I believe in. Jesus' own baptism was the way that he allowed himself to be reborn as someone with a clearer perception of his religion. He saw beyong the old authoritative beliefs.

According to the Bible, Jesus himself never said that everyone who didn't believe in him would be damned to hell for eternity. And for those who are going to throw out the line in the Gospel of John- "I am the way, I am the light"- one has to understand the way in which the gospel writers composed their work and take the lessons from it rather than taking it literally.

Hell- I don't believe there is one.
