when I write that some people suppress "instinct" in order to overcome victimhood, I suppose I mean "that which is defined by my society as instinct." This cultural definition of instinct is not necessarily the same instinct that nature gives us... Man has yet to comprehend all of the gifts, to realize all of the potential, that he has & which he could use for some good end... that has always been with him as a being that is born in & who is very much a part of the natural world (whether he accepts this or not).
Finally, I suppose that "peace" is easier said than done. I can not blame a population who has been repeatedly subjected to humiliation & hardship - either one - for feeling anger. It's wrong to expect them to forget their anger, just as wrong as it is for them to use it to toward more violent ends. But there is something to be said for reflecting on & using uncontrollable emotions for something good - as a passion that drives one to effect positive change against all odds, in defiance of the individuals who would try to convince one that it is impossible [to resolve things in this way].
