We have just learned that in America an Assyrian man named Firas Jatou has had his name forcibly changed to Ross Jatou. His family is in mourning.
Meanwhile we hear that in Iraq anyone calling himself by any Americanized name will have his name forcibly changed back. Several men named Ross, were ordered to become "Firas".
And in America where you can be anything, a Peter Jassim has become a Peter BetBassoo, also under duress it is assumed.
Certain wags have suggested that Assyrians use invisible ink whenever writing down their names, or anything else about them...at least while in America.
