Islamic Law is not composed of the barbarisms it is accused of any more than Christian Law requires the killing of retarded young crimminals. These are the acts of crimminals who hide behind religion...and you can blame religion for providing such a useful and convenient and flexible cover.
You guys really do believe that with all of its flaws, religion keeps us from being any "worse".
In all ages when religion has ruled people have been encouraged to be illiterate, superstitious, callous, brutal, hypocritical and above all else, ignorant.
Had the Church had its way the Dark Ages...a "blessed" time for them, would be with us still. It was a "Good" age for them...a time when people were afraid to go out at night, when they lived in dread of hobgoblins and science and learning and soap and a host of things the church kept them scared out of their wits over.
It was only at great expense and the loss of many lives that people slowly muzzled these clerics. Today the church reluctantly admits the world is round, and is not at the center of the universe...two views it regularly burned people at the stake for expressing.
We would all of us go a lot farther if we would rid ourselves once and for all from the damage caused Humanity by these goatherds and shepherds of 2000 years ago.
