The only thing that made any of these things fun was the company of my friends - not the potential hook-ups OR THE SCENE.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that most of these parties are a waste of time, & it's even more of a waste of your time to nag your parents about these things. You'll get to do everything you want to whenever you leave the house, anyway, & there are a lot of rats at these parties, esp. in high school, trying to con you into things you think you won't do. These rats will make living with your parents seem like heaven.
I'd concentrate more on demanding equality in career expectations (isn't it a bit of an insult if your parents don't expect as much out of you in your future as they would from your brother?) & sports achievements (aren't you sick of people telling you it's OK that you're not as good in sports as your brother, because he's a boy, & boys are better at these things?).
& then ask your [American] *society* why it's unsafe for you to walk alone at night, why you are targeted with stupid make-up, perfume, & fashion ads that promote an anorexic, breast-implanted ideal instead of ads that deal with your physical health & longevity, why you won't get paid as much as a male co-worker who does the same job, & why you're not allowed to show emotions such as frustration, anger, or sadness at these things.
