I was hoping that if this became a success, we could branch out into different areas, including the arts. Thanks for the suggestion. Read more below:

She said the cultural clubs are run by 'Dashnaks'(members of an Armenian political party that can be found throughout the Middle East). Although she calls these people inflexible at times(they are very nationalistic), she gives them credit for recognizing the importance of the arts.

Just recently...this week, actually, someone told me something about these "Dashnaqs" that really surprised me. I don't know if this is true or not, but I was told the following:

In Iran, if the Armenian community really needed a school or something and they didn't have the resources, some members of the Dashnaq organization would pay a visit to the more wealthy Armenians and basically say "Donate xxxx dollars for this school" and leave.

If they didn't donate, they would be killed.

A bit extreme, yes, and I'm not advocating that we try to emulate that, but as far as respecting and encouraging the arts... I couldn't agree more!
