On CNN yesterday I read at the bottom of the screen that 44% of Americans surveyed had NO idea whatsoever why the US was even considering attacking Iraq.
I'd say that's a pretty significant figure. Everywhere I turn I see Bush on the news calling Iraq "an evil, beevil, deevil axis" and such things... they are "developing weapons of mass destruction"... it's in the papers, it's on the internet news sites, in magazines.
I mean, with all of this media, the people still don't realize why the US might attack?
I guess that's a good sign. I mean, it's almost like the American people as a whole don't quite care anymore what our military does. Just don't show the end results on tv. Don't show us the starving children, the dead babies, the destroyed homes, cities... the death and destruction.
I wonder if it's a good sign that the American people have a complete disconnect with the policies of their government (which represents them to the world...that's what governments do, right?)... is it a good sign, or a bad sign?
Did the Germans have a disconnect with their government during WWII?? Did they care about the unending war?
