It's true that the colonial powers bear great responsibility for the devastation we see in Africa now...something they'll come back to "help" with as soon as the Mideast plays out. But it's also true that African leaders learned their wrost lessons from the Brits.
Mugabe isn't giving the land to peasants...and even if he did, they are in no position to provide the food the country needs. It would have been more prudent to keep the whites there and pay them a salary to manage the farms...while handing ownership over to Blacks. What he seems to be doing is one...deflecting criticism from himself by wrapping himself in the flag, another thing they learned well...and paying off his own cronies.
He could have put the whites to work to raise as much food as possible and let them go when the crisis had died down. Not for the sake of the Brits...but for his own people.
