: : : Interesting idea, but Fred has already offered the family a sculpture (the bust of ashurbanipal) valued at $40,000, if we could just organize some sort of a raffle in the community. Unfortunately, this never came to fruition.
: xxx Why a raffle? Can we make it another fund raising goal to raise at least $40,000? The raffle idea is good only if you have a huge population out of which some will donate freely... setting a defined fund-raising goal is probably better for a smaller population of people or for people unwilling to give so freely. Then, with the $40,000, we give say $12,000 to Fred (who needs it, & who deserves it as one of the community's major assets), give the $28,000 to Lina's fund, & donate the sculpture to the hospital in exchange for reduced charges on Lina's account. This way you can try to squeeze $68,000 worth of services out of a $40,000 deal. Just my thoughts.
