LET IRAQ LIVE! The Bush administration is rushing towards a new war of aggression on Iraq, despite opposition fro the world community. The Gulf War killed 200,000 Iraqis, and 12 years of genocidal sanctions have taken the lives of over 1.5 million Iraqi civilians. A new wave of bombing and invasion will devastate the Iraqi population, which has already suffered too much under the U.S.’s brutal campaign. Hear from Ramsey Clark, who recently led an International ANSWER Coalition delegation to Iraq and met with victims from the recent bombings. Learn more about actions to stop the war, and the upcoming Oct. 26 national marches on Washington and San Francisco.

The plan: Assemble at Justin Herman Plaza, foot of Market
St. at Embarcadero. Rally then march on Market St. to
Civic Center Plaza (Grove & Larkin) adjacent to City Hall
for a closing rally with speakers, entertainment and
cultural performances. Buses are filling up rapidly for
the demonstration. Buses, vans and carpools are leaving
from locations throughout the region including Central Los
Angeles, and Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and San
Diego counties. There is a central main departure site in
Metro Los Angeles at Holman United Methodist Church at
3320 W. Adams, between Arlington and Crenshaw. Secure
parking is available at the church. You must buy your
ticket in advance! ($9.00 donation for parking).
TAKE THE BUS! (Or whatever!)
Buses take you directly to the protest and pick you up at
the final rally site for the trip home. It's about a
24-hour trip. Departure is at 11:45 PM on Friday, Oct. 25
returning around Midnight on Saturday, Oct. 26.
The cost is $40 round trip, or $35 for those on fixed/low
income or students.
BUY YOUR BUS TICKETS BY PHONE with Master Card or Visa. Or
drop by our office on Western Avenue between 10:00 am and
8:00 pm weekdays, or 11:00-4:00 pm Saturdays.
Bring food and water for the trip. The buses are full-size
tour buses with bathrooms. We will be making rest stops
along the way with food services and bathrooms available.
Dress in layers with something warm for SF.
Volunteers are needed at the demonstration! Monitors,
distributors, fund raising volunteers needed. Check in at
the Volunteers table to help facilitate the march.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
From Bay Bridge: Take Fremont St. exit. Turn left onto
Fremont then right onto Mission St. to Steuart. Drop off
at Mission & Steuart, walk one block north to Market St.
From Peninsula: Take U.S. 101 North to Fourth St. Exit
towards Embarcadero. Merge onto Bryant St., turn left at
Third St, right at Mission St to Steuart. Drop off at
Mission & Steuart, walk one block north to Market St.
From Golden Gate Bridge: Follow U.S. 101 south as it
merges onto Lombard St. Turn right at Van Ness, left at
Bush, left again at Market to Embarcadero.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN SAN FRANCISCO
The closest BART/MUNI Metro station to Justin Herman Plaza
is the Embarcadero stop. Justin Herman Plaza is
immediately adjacent to the station at the foot of Market
St.

DROP-OFF
The rally gathering site is Justin Herman Plaza, foot of
Market St. at Embarcadero. Buses and vans can drop
passengers off at this location. Buses cannot park here,
but they can pull up and unload along Market St or Steuart
St.
BUS PICKUP
After an opening rally at Justin Herman Plaza, we will
march to Civic Center Plaza. Bus pick up will be at Civic
Center along Grove St. near Larkin.

VAN/CAR PARKING INFORMATION
Vans and car caravans can drop off at Justin Herman Plaza
and then park in a lot or on the street in the area.
Justin Herman Plaza area parking is available at the
Golden Gateway municipal parking garage at 250 Clay St.
With 1095 spaces, the cost is $4.00/hr. After dropping
passengers off along Market St., proceed west on Market
St. 3 blocks to Front St. Turn right on Front St. and
proceed 3 blocks to Clay St. and turn right to the garage.
Justin Herman Plaza is a 2 block walk from the garage.
Another alternative is to drop passengers off at Justin
Herman Plaza, then proceed to Civic Center for parking.
There is a municipal garage below Civic Center Plaza with
843 spaces for $1.50/hr.
From Justin Herman Plaza proceed west on Market St. about
1-1/4 miles then turn right on 7th St. North. Proceed 1
block and turn left onto Mc Allister St. (only choice).
Proceed 2-1/2 blocks and turn left into the garage.
Return to Justin Herman Plaza by public transit. Walk 2
blocks to Grove St. and Market St. where the BART/MUNI
Metro station is located. Take any BART train ($1.10) or
MUNI Metro ($1.00) to Embarcadero stop.

Ramsey Clark is the author of a recent letter (full text at
http://www.iacenter.org) addressed to the UN Security Council and
copied to the UN General Assembly, denouncing new plans
for a U.S. war on Iraq -- plans that include the use of
250,000 troops. Since its dissemination at the UN, the
letter has been translated into Arabic, French, German,
Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Chinese.
"Twelve years ago when the U.S. organized the aerial
slaughter it was able to build an international coalition
against Iraq. Most governments in the coalition joined as
a result of US bullying and coercion. Today the US
government is isolated. All the people of the world and
all twenty-two of the Arab League governments oppose this
plan for unprovoked aggression that violates all
international law," stated Ramsey Clark. "We have come to
Iraq to help galvanize the active mobilization of world
opinion which stands in opposition to this planned war.
