So I watch the Godfather on TV tonight. They dub over the nasty stuff and cut the gory scenes down...no boobs either.
They wont let us hear "Goddamn"...son of a bitch becomes "son of a gun". Bastard becomes "Monster"...forget about Fuck...becomes "Duck" or something...as in, "wanna Duck"?
But what I can't fathom is why ass has to be replaced by "butt". I mean really!
The last words out of Marlon Brando's mouth in "Apocalypse Now"...as Kurtz, waiting to be killed by Martin Sheen...are, "In Vietnam the commanders wont let 18 year olds write "Fuck" on their airplanes but send them out to kill people who never did a thing to them."
We have 11,000 people shot to death each year...serial killers and snipers...a woman bit her husband to death...and we can't say "ass"...because it's too indelicate.
