But was Christianity REALLY so foreign? If it were, I can't imagine these 'kick-arse' Assyrians converting over so easily... they would have rejected the concept outright. No, I think there are many elements in Eastern Chrisianity that are directly borrowed from 'pagan' Assyria, that survive to this day especially in the Jacobite tradition in Tur-Abdin for example.
