I went to see Lina again last night. I walked into her room to see a rosy cheeked, smiling Lina! She was in her own clothes and had a bright red bandana on her head. All the scary wires and machines were removed from her room.
She was very excited to tell me that she was going to be going home permanently in about a week an half. The nurse said that they were going to have her spend a few hours at the Ronald McDonald house her mom and brother are staying at on the hospital grounds. THey are trying to ween her off the hospital environment. So she'll be staying at the RM House for a week and will be coming to the hospital just to get treatment. Then she'll be free to go back to her apartment in Chicago after that one week.
I asked the nurse about her condition and the specifics. She said that Lina was successfully creating her own white blood cells. She said that Lina was going to be just fine in that department. The nurse told me that her tests results for her kidney and liver are still not the best but were leaning on the upside since last week. I asked about the jaundice, the nurse said that it was caused by the liver dysfunction. I don't know specifically what the liver dysfunction is due to my limited bio memory (my religious studies packed mind tends to block out any scientific terminology). Sorry the info isn't too specific.
She's doing well. Happy happy! Joy joy!
