Okay...people change...and the Japanese haven't learned how to cook rice in four thousand years. Some things need changing...why would Assyrians change to a religion that says your rewards are in another life...after death...why would they change to a religion that asked them to accept a new set of values directly opposed to what they lived by for all those centuries. How do you go from working to build a paradise here on earth...to living in the dust and waiting on a reward in another life...and how did the Assyrians EVER come to sitting around while anyone slit their children's throats...and bragging about it.
This wasn't a cosmetic change...it was drastic and it has had awful consequences and I don't see WHAT benefits.
