Fear is a crafty enemy and one must be diligent in one's approach to overcoming it--Nietzsche called such an approach "Dionysian discipline"--to cultivate one's selfish well-being (not in the crude sense of 'selfish') so that one flows out, givingly, like a river overflowing with creativity, love, wisdom...one must endlessly work to keep fear away, he waits outside the door waiting for the moment of exhaustion, where he might sneak into our hearts and make us afraid, self-doubting/deprecating...rest, meditation, yoga, healthy selfishness, appropriate spiritual distance from others which will facilitate healthier relating to those same others (without proper distance there can be no proper proximity): these are the elements of a discipline, a way (as in the Chinese TAO)--the way of goodness.
