Come to think of it there is a precedent for this. The "War on Drugs" has landed a lot of people in jail for silly infractions...non-violent people who are being turned into ones as a result of being locked up with violent felons and subjected to all sorts of ill use.
The "War on Poverty" has landed lots of people on the streets and now even in jails for being incorrigibly poverty-stricken".
The "War on Crime" is self-explanatory.
So, a war on "terrorism" that is as openended as this is going to be...can land suspected terrorists in jail too...and without the means to defend themselves till the war is over...till poverty ends, and till there is no more crime...or drugs.
The only problem is that once this thing flies...next will come war "sympathizers"... those who give comfort to the 'enemy"...those who might at a future date "become any of the above"...and on and on. This is a Repubs idea of heaven...paranoia made policy.
And, as if by a stroke of incredible good luck, the means by which the Constitution can be gutted of those provisons that allow for consumer protection, envronmental protection, gay rigfhts...and the mother of them all, Abortion Rights...can FINALLY be dealt with....with a "modified and upgraded and streamlined" Constitution and legal system.
No free people are conquered from the outside. Their super patriots always begin the process of destruction...from within.
