Thanks for the link to the article in Commentary magazine. The article was very revealing. If it is true, then it seems that the emperor has no clothes.

The question is: what has Edward Said, that confused "Arab", done for Assyrians?

As an Assyrian, I would support Kanan Makiya. In his book "The Republic of Fear", Makiya discusses the Assyrians (Simele) forthrightly and honestly, referring to Simele as a massacre (most other Arab "intellectuals" deny it was a massacre, call it an "incident" and generally attempt to blame the innocent Assyrians for it).
