I lived in Chicago for one year...in Ann Arbor for one year, in New York for four years...I decided to skip the North Pole.
I can understand visiting those places...but I don't understand living in them year round.
The tropics also suck year round. Give me where I am, 7000 feet up where the light is clean...close enough to the tropics so it's pleasant at that altitude...where plants of any sort grow year round...and the corn cooking on the charcoal fire at every other street corner is so good.
There's a Mexican drink called" tejuino" teh-wee-no)...made from mashed raw corn chilled very cold. It must be the same mush you boil and distill to make corn mash whiskey. It's an odd drink, very good. They say its an aphrodisiac, but then instant decaf coffee is considered an aphrodisiac down there...doesn't take much to tumble a Latin. I don't the women are "easy"...far from it...it's just that a healthy and vibrant flirtation hangs in the air like hot dew.
The delights of Mexico are such that I want you all to believe it's a dangerous land and stay where you are. ..in the murder, rape and mayhem capital of the universe. It's odd...the lands the United States has medled with the most, are the ones from which laborers come to do our dirty work, and the most ambitious and educated come to "get ahead". The vast majority of them would far prefer to stay home...if home wasn't being mined and undermined by the legion of sleuths this country has unleashed on the world.
Yeah, yeah...I know, blame everything on the U.S. I don't know why they want to investigate Enron...why they're blaming it all on Enron. It's always the sucker's fault...always.
