A British editor of the paper that published the photos of Brit soldiers abusing people in Iraq has stepped down and the paper apologises for printing the fakes. One has to wonder though. Who would fake these photos and why? And how? Are these soldiers faking them? The unit said a military truck in the photo was never in Iraq...okay...so where did Brit soldiers go to make this fake photo..and again, why? If it wasn`t the army itself then someone went to a lot of trouble to fake it..uniforma and all...why? If the photos are fake, surely the people doing it realized all possible technology would be broguth to bear by the Brits and Americans to prove them fake...so that in the end, if those faking the photos were interested in smearing the "good name" of the Coalition soldiers..would have just given them a clean slate...for who now would believe...who would dare print the next photos...and like all the media said..they knew about the abuse stories, but it wasn`t until the PHOTOS came out that the public was shocked enough to force investigations. Surely the next batch of photos down the road are going to be eyes warily by any editor who knows he might lose his job...so why take a risk..who gives a shit about Iraqis anyway? But, if you believe you were fighting EVIL then anything is fair...and the more devious the better. What if you "uncovered" photos that were planted...that could be shown to be false but only after the outrage festered for a time...let people get disgusted and angry and shocked and yelling at each other that war is hell etc...and then you "discovered" they were faked. There again...you could then continue and even escalate what you were doing all along...and who wouldn`t rather believe the next time..that these were just more faked photos..and NOTHING like what they depicted was really going on? That way also, when prisoners are released and tell their stories without fear of reprisals. some hog-jawed senator can say the boy heard the fuss made about the photos and got his ideers from there. Would friends of the Iraqis fake these photos? Why, when the danger of becomming the boy who cried wolf is such a possibility? Let`s all go crazy together..it`s so much cozier. --------------------- |
