What are his motives to surrender? Why wouldn’t he take his own life? Wouldn't he have rather take his own life knowning he would face imprisoned for life or possibly death? America took control of his country, killed his sons and turned him into a shell of a man. Why didn't he kill himself?

To me this doesn't add up.
