No one would be surprised to learn that Narsai fights llke the devil to protect the integrity of his onion soup recipe...or that he insists every directon for a catered event be followed to the letter or there'll be a screaming match...after all his reputation which means his paycheck is on the line. It isn't just a whim or a pride thing, even if it is a vegetable we're discussing, or how to wash it. Likewise no one would be surprised to learn Atour Golani was hopping mad to learn someone had welded his rear end...I mean changed the design for one of his projects for Ford Motor Company because, "he thought it would be better this way". Especially when we learned the person doing it was a sculptor...didn't know a cog from wheel, but did it anyway and thought there shouldn't be any fuss made about it either. I'm sure Jackie knows how to do something too and we'd expect that she'd be cautious and jealous over whatever it is when it means the reputation of her business from which she derives the income that wows us all. It's only natural and right that people who do something well enough to have it be appreciated and sought after and from which they make their living, be allowed to guide and structure and determine the complete process and not have their products yanked from them at the end to be completed by someone else...someone totally unfamiliar with the work in question. It's right and sensible, even to us, in everything but the Arts. We still believe and behave as if Art and Artist were childish inconsequentials. Because we make no time for them in our lives or the lives of our children and turn the TV on at night only when there is nothing else to do, we think the dancers and actors and writers and technical people's efforts we view, with a beer or tea in hand...our feet propped up on the coffee table after a "hard day's work", were likewise just playing around with nothing better to do when they knocked out a play or symphony or two. Narsai knows enough not to tamper with any artist's work except an Assyrian artist...as Golani would never dream of welding an English or German or any other artist's work except an Assyrian's. Jackie also would be fearful of losing face in front of people that matter...non-Assyrians and that alone, if nothing else, would force her to act the part of at least a cultured bitch. We realy and truly and honesty despise and most of all fear anything that has to do with raising Assyrian pride. I know it's hard to grasp when there's such a show put on...so many tears and now duck liver pate and speeches and tears and wailings over it...but it isn't for or about Assyrian pride or the Heritage these people are weeping and wailing and "working". It's about the reflected glory that comes their way when you BELIEVE that's what they're doing. And since the whole thing is a sham, a fruad and a charade, they naturally enough want the least challeging ways to show this pride of theirs. If there were some serious hoops to jump through on the way to Assyrian Leadershit, you'd see a lot less of Jackie, Nimrod, Golani and now Narsai too. My whole point is that there OUGHT to be serious hoops to jump through or we really haven't done or built anything. And Narsai and the rest of them know this because in their own professions, where all of them have indeed built something, they know what it takes to succeed and it ain't easy and they also know they must keep me and others like me from building what we know it takes to succeed in our professions. Yet leading Assyria, no less, has GOT to remain a piece of cake. That's why for several years now they've been trying to drive me out...it's why Alphonse Odishoo slimes our poets by ruining their evening...it's the reason Golani welds my sculpture, even as he falls weeping to his knees. These people are working AGAINST the Heritage but since we've never experienced anyne working FOR it...in any but this humanitarian and then religious way crap...we don't know any better...don't see that they come out in force when it's time to wipe the blood off us...but the rest of the time they're the ones delivering the body blows and kicks to the head...yes THEY...not Turks and A-rabs and Q---'s. Or let's put it this way...let's say it is the Arabs and the others who periodically beat up on us. Wouldn't a friend come to our rescue at least after and in between beatings, if they can't save us from them and maybe try to prepare us for the next round? Maybe boxing lessons or running shoes or anything at all that would better prepare us to receive the next blows that are coming. Instead these leaders of ours come to us after a beating and beat us some more. They do so by denying the Heritage the opportunity to grow some muscle with which to protect itself the next time...maybe even begin to fight back. Instead they help keep us weak so we'll have need of them the next time around. That's what all this humanitarian aid bullshit amounts to in the end. No one is asking why the descendants of the ancient Assyrians should be needing so much humanitarian aid...why they can't stand on their own a bit more...and I don't mean during a war or famine, but during normal times when there's the opportunity to build some much needed cultural muscle. We still think of culture as someone driving a Benz, with a Jaguar in tow. To do anything to that person's status or standing we feel is a direct assault on what is best about us or the most we can hope for...a direct attack on our Culture. To expose these people for the frauds they are...even while no one has apologized to Rabel in all these years, makes us feel we risk losing all we can hope for of "greatness" in the modern era. It's so damn ass backwards that it's no wonder we're left with the leadership we have...and that the most they can hope to do is undermine anything that risks their status and standing because we agree with them that they're the most important thing we've produced or are ever likely to produce. I still say Fuck 'em all...before they Fuck us any more. --------------------- |
