Israel to Build A Wall on the Jordan Valley Tuesday, 28 October 2003, 12:27 am Press Release: Al-Manar Television “Israel" Intends to Build A Wall on the Jordan Valley, Grabbing More Palestinian Land Talks of building a new fence in the Jordan Valley that encroaches "several kilometers" into the now occupied West Bank is likely to draw more tension. Israeli Premier Ariel Sharon said on Friday the fence project is currently under consideration, adding that when it is ready, it will be presented to the government for discussion. Palestinian chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat said that the fence at Jordan Valley is an apartheid wall, which has nothing to do with Israel's security and it aims at turning our cities, villages, and camps into big prisons. He added that "Israel" wants to confiscate more Palestinian land, control the groundwater reservoirs, and destroy the economic, social and educational system of the Palestinians. "Israel" went on with the construction despite a UN resolution calling for its halt claiming that it wants to stop Palestinian infiltrators. But so far the wall failed to stop resistance operations. On Friday 2 Palestinians from Hamas and the Islamic Jihad carried out a resistance operation at a post in Netzarim settlement killing 3 Israeli soldiers and wounding 2 others after Israel launched a deadly strike on the Gaza Strip camps killing 13 Palestinians and wounding 100 others. Another operation injured 3 Israeli soldiers at Kissoufim settlement. An Islamic Jihad leader Mohammed al-Hindi said, "The most violent strikes that Israel launched against the Palestinian resistance and the Palestinian people were at times when there was a low-profile Palestinian operations. It is clear that when Israel targeted Rafah, there were no operations, and when it rendered more than 1500 citizens homeless, and demolished their homes, there were no resistance operations. So using the kind of logic that the resistance operations prompt Israeli reactions is unacceptable. The real world we're living and the experience have taught us exactly the opposite." The sister of martyr Fouda said, "I'm so glad that he carried out the operation and I wish to carry out an operation just like him." Israel kept up its violent policy, when its occupation forces swooped on a hospital in the northern West Bank town of Nablus early Saturday, arresting a Palestinian from the Hamas movement who was being treated in the intensive care unit. 26-year-old Khaled Abu Hamad was critically wounded along with two other Hamas members late Wednesday when their car blew up in the eastern part of Nablus. All three were critically injured and one died the next day. Hamad was taken to Nablus' evangelical hospital, from where Israeli troops snatched him early on Saturday. Troops also entered Rafidiyeh hospital looking for the third Hamas fighter but were unable to find him. Another Palestinian was hospitalized in moderate condition after Israeli occupation troops shot him in the back as he was trying to enter Nablus by an alternative route.
