Most interesting indeed. I've often wondered about the split in the Christian church. It seems the Germanic tribes got back at those Romans a second time. It was the Germans who sacked Rome effectively and yet came under the sway of Christianity anyway...sort of won the battle but lost the war. The Romans continued siphoning off wealth to Rome...called it "Peter's pence"...and did it ever add up! When they'd finally had enough, the independent Germaniac princes provided the cover and protection for Martin Luther to defy Rome as he did and from then on the princes robbed their own people...an improvement over the Pope's doing it. That's the second time the "cold" North...trounced the "warm" South. Then comes World War II and once again these two former adversaries sometime allies join together, this time...under the banner of Fascism, which is nothing other than Christianity with its gloves off...and once again it's the Germans who save the Romans...that midget of a Caesar to be exact...Mussolini. Much of modern history seems to have been the ongoing struggle between Germans and Romans and the two competing Christian Weapons of Mass Lunacy they employed to murder us with. I would have been sorely disappointed if you'd have been welcomed at aina. --------------------- |
