When I was a kid growing up in San Francisco for three years in the 50s there weren't a whole lot of "other" people around...especially not in the neighborhood or schools I went to. Blacks were kept in specific parts of the city and you could go through your days and not see any. There weren't that many Darkies of other sorts...no Arabs or Hindus and I don't remember ever seeing a Mexican or other Latin type. Consequently I was pretty exotic to my classmates and I recall even hearing the principal say to me that maybe where I came from they did such and such but not here in America.

But what really floored us all was the feeling among the other kids that somehow or other, being from the faraway and totally foreign MidEast, I'd managed to hear about Christianity and even was one. This was too many for my classmates who believed what everyone seemed to take for granted, that Jesus was born in Boston or close by. To them Christianity was as American as basketball and apple pie...had to be for what would these white folk be doing taking any advice from a Darkie like Jesus.

It is curious that the very country, Palestine, where Israel was lopped off from, is the birthplace of Jesus and his religion...the same country the United States through this same Israel has been pounding for 40 years and more. They are killing the people of Jesus...but so what, Jesus had to be killed for Christianity to get rocking and rolling, so why not his friends and neighbors.

And me, I'm from Iraq which used to be Assyria, which borders on Syria and there's no need to explain where that name came from...and we all bordered on Palestine or Phillistia, which gave birth to Jesus...and the boys and girls and adults in America puzzled over how I became a Christian!

Americans are Puritans...those dour old spoil-sports who were far closer to the old hell-fire breathing and brimstone crapping Jews of the Old Testicles than anything else. In any contest between an uptight, sour-pussed old fart who believes his god punished everyone, starting with him...and a happy-go-lucky sort who's content to live his own life, mind his own business and let others do the same...the sourpuss is gonna win eventually. That's cause we don't bother ourselves with what the other guy does in his bedroom or thinks in his head...we know all people can't think and act the same and wouldn't want it anyway...we know that sameness breeds boredom and dullness...that variety is spice...that other people have ideas that might be better than ours and we're willing to learn from them as it suits us.

Not the Puritan. No one cares what he does in his bedroom including his wife. No one wants to know his god...no one is interested in the least in learning anything from him and the rest go on their merry way unconcerned that his god is pissed or pleased or out to lunch. We figure it's his right to believe as he wishes...as we claim the same right, we do unto others as we would wish others to do unto us...the Puritan, he just DOES unto others.
But the Puritan can't be right if we are too...his god can't exist if there are others and his god makes him antsy when the rest of us don't care what either of them thinks. His god says so hisself..."I am a jealous god"...not, "I am the ONLY god". The Puritan DOES care what goes on in our bedrooms...he DOES care what we think in our heads...if we dance on Sundays or any day...if we had a party the other night...he cares because the existence of any other way of life casts his own into doubt...and a Puritan must have no doubts..he must be dead sure that there is only one god SUPREME and that god is HIS GOD.

Tolerance has to be the worst sin imagineable to a Puritan for that way lies ruin and ridicule and mockery of his very core beliefs...that's why Puritans can burn the mid-night oil planning ways to undo the neighbors while the neighbors can't be bothered to gather for anyting more serious than a picnic or a barn dance...for pleasure not to seal some poor shmucks fate by leveling charges of witchcraft, sorcery OR Terrorism against him.

Puritans in America have been hatcing their scheme for years while the rest of us fiddled away. To a Puritan the continuation of this trend towards tolerance and liberality...of living and letting live, spells the worst disaster imagineable and not least because it tempts them too much to throw off the barbed wire corset and let loose...and because they're not sure they can browbeat their own children if the neighbor kids are swimming naked in the pool. Nobody in the world wants to be a Puritan except one born that way...no one is "tempted" to stray into their tin corsets and hairshirts...but Puritans live in constant terror that the old pecker is gonna rise in the night and spray lust all over their sheets cause they spied the neighbor lady without her top on, in the privacy of her own home...which has GOT to be a terrible sin anyway, privacy laws or no privacy cause "LOOK AT THE SHEETS"!!!

Pleasure is sin to a Puritan and when he feels any, even against his best efforts not to...he must have been sinned AGAINST. They're the sorriest lot of jackasses ever...and what would you expect considering their god...who nonetheless are a power to reckon with. They're the ones behind our coup...this has been the age of religious revival...which means of bigotry, extremism and fanatacism...in America, Israel, Iran, Afghanistan...and they want MORE religion in America. Self-serving politicians and Industrialists have seized on the bloody corpse of Christ to shield them from exposure while they screw us all left and right for they know we'll be side-tracked easily by Christmas carols and stories of Jesus as a baby and the rest of that mush...and it serves us all right. There is something rotten at the very core of Christianity that it lends itself so easily and always has, to manipulation and to being put to work for these kinds of causes.

It has to be cannibalism that does it. If you'll take the benefits that come through murder of the innocents and, to put a seal on your infammy, eat the bloody corpse and drink the blood...you're about at Hell's doorstep already. The rest is a piece if cake...for dessert.
